Matierals:

• A empty 2 liter pop bottle
• 5 pipettes
• 5 lugnuts

Saftey Concerns: None to speak of

Procedure:
Step 1: Fill up a 2 liter pop bottle most of the way full with water.(leave about 1-2 inches of space inbetween the cap and the water line).

Step 2: Attach 1 lugnut to each individual pipette make sure they are small enough so they stay on the pipette. Fill the first pipette up with the most liquid then the 2nd with less than the third with even more less then the fourth with even more less than the last one with the least amount of water in it.

Step: 3 Put all pipttes into the filled bottle and seal the cap closed.

Step: 4 Squeeze the bottle near the top where the pipetts are. The different levels of water should cause time delays between pipets so that they sink one at a time and come back up in an order backwards to the order in which they sank.

Conclusion/Explanation:
The reason this works is because when you squeeze the bottle the air inside becomes commpressed because water does not compress( for it is a liquid not a gas); and when the air becomess compressed that pressure forces water to also compress the air inside the pipettes. When this happens the weight of the extra water now inside the pipettes cause them to sink. When pressure is realesed, the water is forced back out of the pipettes and they float back up to the top. This process causes the density of the pipettes to change because of more mass( the extra water), and the reason they go down at different times is because the density of each pipette is already different because of varied amounts of wwater in each pipette. the reason why things float is because those things are less dense and if it is more dense it sinks just like in the pipette activity if you put to many nuts on or to much water in that would make them sink or if you didnt put enough nuts on or enough water in it would float. To make the pipettes sink faster could be different liquids added or but more liquid in the bottle to make it easy to sink faster or put some more water in the pipette or put more nuts on the pipette. The density of the pipette is less than water so that would mean that it would float. The heart and the pumping of the blood can be a situation that could be like this activity the heart beating makes the blood go around the body.
Errors
Some of the errors or mistakes that we made were we should have cut the pipettes that would have made it easier. And we needed to put more water in the bottle that would have made it easeier to sink also.
